Social Enterprise Challenge
Young Entrepreneurs show support to their local community in Apprentice style challenge.
Future U are pleased to announce a new Social Enterprise Challenge hosted by Lancaster University Management School. The challenge has been developed by Future U, Lancaster University and The Inspirational Learning Group to help young people in years 10-13 develop key transferable skills that will support them as they progress.
Designed to be delivered over a full day, or as five separate one–hour sessions, students will consider the impact that the COVID19 pandemic has had on key groups within their local communities. Their task will then be to develop an idea for a brand–new product, service or organisation to help support them.
Each task is introduced by engaging video tutorials that can be accessed via The Inspirational Learning Group’s interactive, online learning platform and so can be hosted in any classroom by teachers themselves.
Theo Blackburn, Programme Manager at Future U said ‘We are really excited to be working with The Inspirational Learning Group and Lancaster University as we know that the pandemic has had a big impact on local communities and the extracurricular opportunities that students would usually have access to. We wanted to offer something relevant to allow learners to think creatively and showcase some of their entrepreneurial flair. Although the programme can be delivered virtually, we hope to host a physical final to allow students to experience life at a university, and to pitch their winning ideas.’
Whilst developing entrepreneurial and transferable “soft” skills such as communication, problem solving and time management; students will also be introduced to the range of business-related courses available at Lancaster University, will find out more about Higher Education and the opportunities offered by Future U.
