DELIVERY METHOD:
These sessions are designed to provide learners with an insight into a specific sector which is known to play an important role in the local economy. Each session will include an interactive activity for learners to engage with, as well as containing information on the local labour market and the various progression pathways specific to each sector. More details about the sectors covered are below:
• Finance and Professional Services – Students will learn about the finance industry by looking at how worldwide events can alter stock markets. Pupils will compete in an interactive game to decide when to invest in or sell shares using reliable (and potentially unreliable!) information.
• Construction – This session is based on the City Deal, a once-in-a-lifetime funding programme to transform Central Lancashire. Learners will take on the role of engineers to build a new bridge using Lego, whilst considering the impact on the local area.
