Pillars of Growth – Digital

Identified by the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) as one of the six “Pillars of Growth”, this session highlights the importance of the Digital sector in Lancashire and the potential for successful, varied careers within.

School Staff

Students will discover how different industries link to the digital sector, from computing, networking, designing and coding.  They will take part in an activity introducing them to the principles of coding, learning how to program a robot through a range of sequences of increasing challenge.  The activity ends with a creative coding challenge, where learners will incorporate all this newfound knowledge in a robot dance-off.

Finally, learners will discover potential career opportunities and education routes through Further Education, Higher Education and Apprenticeships towards a successful career in this sector.
