FAQs

How do I travel to and from each event?

Your college is responsible for helping you to arrange travel to and from events. Future U are not responsible for organising your travel but will reimburse the costs to you via college afterwards. If your college advises you to make your own way there e.g. they are not organising a minibus/taxi for you you, please keep any tickets/receipts as you will need these to claim the cost back afterwards.

Please make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of the start time at each activity.

Who else is part of the programme?

There are 20 learners taking part in the programme from colleges across Lancashire. All students are studying towards a Level 3 qualification and have completed the online application form. This year we are pleased to welcome students from Blackburn College, Nelson and Colne College, Blackpool and The Fylde College, Burnley College and Cardinal Newman College

Who is my contact at college?

You have a designated contact college who has been made aware that you have gained a place on the programme and will support you to complete and attend all activities. You have received an email from Future U to let you know who this is. If you are still unsure, please email futureuadmin@uclan.ac.uk.

Can my parents/carers attend the graduation event?

Yes! We will be inviting your parents, carers and teachers to attend a graduation event at the University of Central Lancashire on the 2nd of May. This will follow on from your DNA workshop. You, and your parents/carers, will receive an invitation to the graduation closer to the event which will include timings and further information such as the venue and parking instructions.

What do I need to wear and bring with me?

Please check the specific event information on this page (scroll up!), where you will find information relevant to each event. Please ensure you dress appropriately for each activity, taking into account the weather. Remember your sun screen and waterproofs if necessary!

You will also find information about any catering that is provided next to each event but you are welcome to bring your own food if you would prefer.

When is the deadline to complete the independent project?

The deadline to complete your independent project will be on the 30th of April. You can find out more about the project by checking out the project page above.

Your independent project work will be displayed during the graduation event at the University of Central Lancashire on the 2nd of May and we will expect you to submit it a few weeks before.
