Future U were delighted to sponsor Lancashire’s biggest careers fair ‘Blackburn is Hiring’ again this year!
The event offers learners from secondary schools across the Blackburn with Darwen area the opportunity to meet with over 50 exhibitors; including Lancashire based employers, educators and training providers.
The event was organised and delivered by Blackburn with Darwen Council’s New Directions Team at King George’s Hall in Blackburn town centre. It took place only a few weeks into the new term, meaning learners got off to a flying start researching and planning their future goals!
The aim of the event was to inform young people of the options available to them post-16, and also to raise awareness of different routes and sectors through direct conversations with exhibitors.
The Future U team delivered ‘Preparing for a Careers Fair’ sessions to school groups in advance of the event, and were also there to support and provide guidance to the young people of Blackburn with Darwen on the day. The exhibition was a great success, with over 1000 young people present!
Oliver Norris, Future U Outreach Officer said:
“It was fantastic to see so many young people from around Blackburn exploring opportunities for their future. It was particularly impressive observing how they engaged professionally with local employers, introducing themselves, asking questions and discovering potential future careers.
The event itself is one of the largest careers fairs in Lancashire and brought together a wide range of employers from different sector, with the intention of showing students the vast scope of careers they could choose from”.
